CNA training in Utah is available at community colleges that offer programs combining academic and practical courses which contain classroom lectures and lab work. Davis Applied Technology College offers a 99-hour program while the Salt Lake Community College has a 130-hour CNA program that prepare students for state examinations run by Headmaster who also provide practice tests. CNAs have to be trained extensively to provide high quality health care and personal medical care, and are required to complete between 75 to 150 hours of training. Classroom hours is based on a specific syllabus, which introduces students to basic nursing theories. Practical hours then equip students with knowledge on how to handle patients, use medical equipment, take and read a patient’s vital signs as well as assist nurses with daily tasks. CNA requirements are stipulated by the government and the state of Utah requires CNAs to be in good health and without a criminal record.
